Skoffin by Viergacht Skoffin by Viergacht
The skoffin is a mythological Icelandic creature (which looks like it was invented by furries) that is the offspring of a female cat and a male fox - the inverse is the skuggabaldr, which has a fox mother and a feline father. Or, according to who you're referencing, the skoffin, skuggabaldr and Utharkottr are produced by a cat mother/fox father and a tomcat and a vixen mix to make a finngalkn. Skoffins are supposed to have a paralyzing gaze similar to a basilisk or Medusa and to be very dangerous, as they inherit the cat's lack of fear of humans.

Obviously this sort of thing isn't really possible, but it is interesting that crosses with wild canids and domestic dogs are dangerous for exactly this reason: it's impossible to predict what mix of feral instinct they inherit, and they tend to lack any sort of fear (or respect) of humans).

Anyways, I've been cleaning out my hard drive and this was an old photo montage that I never did anything with, so here it is.

If it weren't dangerous, I'd almost want one as a pet, it looks adorable. :)

I'd almost say it needs more obvious cat features, maybe continue the subtle striping from the head along the body and tail, but it looks good already.

Yeah - it's kind of an old one. I could do better now, I think.

Skoffin is also:
A bird of Iceland that preys on men and is fire-breathing with a petrifying gaze that turns its victims into stone. However its gaze also affects its own kind making it difficult to mate. People shoot these creatures down with arrows made with silver heads with a Christian cross engraved on it. This belief that they can be killed in such a way derives from finding ways to kill a Vampire but it has not been proven that the Skoffin have a weakness to silver arrow heads with crosses.
